Savages Mussels Bar in Macclesfield is located in the trendy Castle Quarter area of the town centre, on the historic cobbles of Church Street. Even before it opened in November 2023, Savages Mussels had already built its exceptional reputation. Trading as a pop up kitchen in popular venues across Macclesfield since 2018, the founder Jamie Savage has worked tirelessly to make his dream of opening a mussel bar become a reality.

The quality and wow factor of every dish served is down to Jamie’s passion for his trade. Proof of this is reflected by the numerous 4.8/5 Star Google and Trip Advisor reviews!

Jamie’s reputation doesn’t stop at the boundaries of East Cheshire. Originally trained as a chef in the Royal Navy, he’s sharpened the tools of his trade across the globe in many countries. Recognised for his work and talent, Jamie was recently picked by Gordon Ramsey to compete on the well known ‘Future Food Stars’ programme on the BBC 1 (still available to watch on iPlayer!).

We recommend to book in advance if possible (especially at weekends), however the friendly staff will always try to accommodate walk in’s as best as possible. Since opening in November 2023, the mussel bar has become one of Macclesfield ‘must try’ places to eat. Jamie’s aim is to serve the best mussels you’ve ever tasted and introduce mussels to people in ways that you can never imagine. As well as mussels and seafood, their menu includes vegetarian and vegan dishes, so there is lots to choose from if mussels or seafood aren’t your thing. Their menu is also frequently updated and features unique specials, so every visit offers something new to discover!

Savages it’s not just a restaurant, the bar is uniquely decorated with a buzzing, welcoming atmosphere and staff. You can take a seat at the bar tables for a drink or a coffee. If you’re in the mood to party, they’re conveniently located in the heart of the Castle Quarter. This is where you’ll find some of Macclesfield’s most trendy bars and a popular live music venue.
