4Macclesfield Silk Museum takes you on a journey from 2024 back to Cheshire’s industrial roots. Visitors can learn about and explore the journey through the industrial process of silk making, from the cocoon to the loom.

With plenty of hands on exhibits for children and adults alike, the museum houses a permanent exhibition which explores the properties of silk, design education, Macclesfield’s diverse textile industries & workers lives. It also shows Macclesfield Silk during the war, historic machinery and occasionally hosts temporary exhibitions.

The museum is open Wednesday – Saturday, 10am-4pm
Also open Treacle Market Sundays 11.30am to 4pm

Closed Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day

No need to pre-book a visit to the Silk Museum. Please just drop in, and we encourage you to support us with a donation. Tickets for a tour of Paradise Mill may be bought on arrival at the Museum. We do recommend pre-booking to avoid disappointment.
