Macclesfield Lantern Parade 2026

Join us for the return of the Macclesfield Lantern Parade on Saturday 24th January 2026 and help chase away the dark winter nights with a magical lantern walk of light.

Winter months of short days and cold long nights make it less inviting to get out and socialise. The community event organised by Macclesfield Town Council and working with Community ArtSpace and Macclesfield Silk Museum has being created to brighten up the town centre and Maxonian spirits with a free evening of light and music.

The parade will set off from the Silk Museum on Park Green at 5pm on Saturday 24th January. We recommend to get there early to start gathering from around 4:30pm. The parade will finish in Market Place where you’ll be able to watch the fire show from Chris Marley and walk about entertainment with hot drinks available to buy to keep you warm!

ArtSpace and the Silk Museum will be holding free lantern-making workshops on the lead up and day of the event. You’ll need to book in advance for the Silk Museum and more details will be released for where and when you can join the Artspace workshops.
