If you’re looking for free things to do with children in Macclesfield this summer? Do Something Summer is back with six weeks of exciting family activities in the heart of Macclesfield town centre.

Organised by Macclesfield Town Council, the popular event takes place every Wednesday from 22 July until 26 August 2026, with free activities running from 11am until 3pm in Market Place, Macclesfield.

There is no need to book for most activities – simply turn up and join in.

Do Something Summer 2026 Activities

Wednesday 22 July – Rock Climbing

Kick off the summer holidays by climbing one of Orbis Outdoor Adventure’s impressive 24ft mobile climbing walls.

This free activity is suitable for children aged 4 years and over and is a fantastic chance to challenge yourself in a safe environment.

Wednesday 29 July – Junk Modelling with ArtSpace

Turn everyday recycled materials into amazing creations with Macclesfield Community ArtSpace.

Children can choose from a huge collection of recycled treasures and let their imagination run wild by creating their own unique artwork.

Wednesday 5 August – Comic Art with Marc Jackson

Join well-known local cartoonist and Macc-Pow! founder Marc Jackson for a fun comic drawing workshop.

All materials are provided, making this a great opportunity for young artists to learn new drawing skills and create their own comic characters.

Wednesday 12 August – Mad Science

Enjoy a day packed with science experiments, slime making and interactive demonstrations.

Children can make their own slime, discover the science behind paper aeroplanes and watch two exciting live science shows full of audience participation.

Recommended for children aged 4 and above.

Wednesday 19 August – Circus School with Let’s Circus

Learn amazing circus skills including:

Plate spinning
Club juggling
Beanbag games
Circus tricks

Professional performers from Let’s Circus will also be giving live demonstrations throughout the day.

Wednesday 26 August – Colour Up!

Finish the summer holidays with a giant community colouring session.

All colouring materials are provided and the activity is suitable for all ages, making it a perfect family event before school starts again.
